Just A Few Things

I wanted to share a few pics off of my cell phone. I haven't taken any pictures with my big camera since Christmas. Shocking I know, but sometimes you just need a lil break. :)

Holly was really sad to put away the Nutcrackers. :(

The girls found the funniest app for their iPods. We have laughed so hard at some of them that I think it warrants a post featuring our funniest pics later on. :) Stay tuned....

A co-worker of Brian's gave us a new rooster! We had 3 last year and after we gave 2 away our remaining one died. And in honor of Brian and the girls buying 4 of my favorite BBC Miniseries for Christmas we named him Mr. George Knightley (from Emma:)!!!

About a week and a half ago the girls and I ran into the library and when we came out it looked like a blizzard! It didn't last long though. :( I am beginning to wonder if we're gonna even have a winter. The temps have been in the upper 40's and 50's for quite a while now.

Anna took the snow pic and the one above. We were driving to Lexington and she snapped this one of a farm on the side of the interstate. She's getting pretty good!

#283 - Some Random Things on a Monday

During co-op today Anna made a spoon person and she chose Mary from "The Little House on the Prairie" show! We checked it out last week from the library and the girls are addicted to watching it now!

While taking pictures yesterday I snapped one of Danforth Chapel. :) It's where we got married!
And this is completely random, but I LOVE this soap!

Proverbs 19:20-21
"Listen to counsel and receive instruction,
That you may be wise in your latter days.
There are many plans in a man’s heart,
Nevertheless the LORD’s counsel—that will stand."

#202 - Blue Sky Randomness

Last night when the girls and I were leaving Walgreens the sunset and sky was absolutely gorgeous! I took this picture with my cell phone (along with the rest of the pics in this post):

It was the prettiest combo of pinks and blues.
The girls and I went to a swim birthday party today for a girl they go to co-op with. They had a great time!
After living in our house for almost 5 years I am finally redecorating our bedroom. I'm going to paint it a golden yellow color and decorate with antique red accents. Here are some samples of fabric I found tonight at Hobby Lobby that we like:

I'm going to use one of these materials to make some pillows and maybe curtains with. I think the first one might be my favorite.
The girls had outgrown their four-wheeler and decided to sell it. With the money they want to buy new bicycles. Tonight while we were in Meijer's, Anna took one for a little test drive. Holly did too, but I was too worried about her running someone over to take a picture!

"I have chosen the way of truth;
Your judgments I have laid before me."

Random Events from the Week

We have had a super busy week! Monday we had things going on from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.!

First thing Monday morning we headed over to our county fiscal court meeting. This is Brian's Uncle Larry who is a magistrate in our district. We went to the meeting to support Bro. Kenny who spoke in opposition to Sunday sales at a winery in a town close to us. Larry voted "no" and we are proud to have him represent us! It did pass because one of the magistrates that lost changed his vote after he had lost this past election. So so sad.

After the court meeting (which we stayed for the entire session!) the girls and I headed on to our homeschool co-op group. The girls really enjoy most of their classes. Anna takes a science class based off of the book, "Blood and Guts" and the teacher has been wonderful! They've been able to dissect several different things and this past class they were able to dissect sheep brains! Sorry if this grosses you out! :) It might gross you out even more if you scroll any further, because of course I've been taking pictures of most of the organs they've done.

It was really interesting I must say! The only time I got grossed out completely was when we did the eyeball. I'll spare you that pic!

Monday evening I helped a couple different people from our church prepare a meal for the Baptist Campus Ministry students in our town. They had this painting on the wall and I just loved it! Do you see the tree and the sun within the hand and sleeve? The hand had broken mirror representing the nail scars in Jesus' hand. I thought it showed Jesus making a way to His Father and directing us to Him! So neat!

Here are a couple of the super sweet girls and our precious Sheila (who makes awesome PB fudge by the way:)!

It has been flurrying here the past couple of days! I can bare the colder weather much better if there is pretty snow falling!
Tuesday I had a doctor's appt (yay me!) and then that night I had a little dinner and shopping outing with some sweet friends! We went to Hobby Lobby, ate a yummy meal, and then ended our night at Big Lots. Ha! We've decided to make this a monthly date! I can't believe I didn't take one single picture. :(
Hope you all are having a great week! Our town's Christmas parade is this Saturday and then on Sunday the missionary couple that we worked with in Panama will be speaking at our church. We can't wait to see them again!

Weekend Round-up

We have had a great weekend! It all started when the doorbell rang on Friday night and we got a couple of house guests:)

Nana and Bella came and spent the night with us!

I could honestly bite those lips off! Ha!

She sure does love her Uncle Brian!

We don't really celebrate Halloween anymore. The girls dress up all the time so to dress up and go trick or treating we just don't do. Not celebrating Halloween is just a personal conviction we as a family have agreed upon. I don't pass judgment on those that do.
God's Word says that we should abstain from all appearances of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22) and the research that we have done about Halloween tells me to keep away from celebrating it in even the most innocent ways!

We did recognize today (Oct. 31) as Reformation Day! It is the day that in 1517 Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses upon the church in Wittenburg, Germany that sparked the Great Reformation!

This week the girls played Pioneer Girls and Holly was their protector!

The sunset on Saturday night was just amazing!

Last Tuesday, Brian was off work and we had a clean day! He re-arranged the living room with the girls help. He also fixed my old window/quilt that I made and hung it up for me.

Here are just a few pics of our living room. We'd eventually like to change the wood paneling, but it makes for a cabin/chalet feel.
This was Mama's black table and we found that mirror at Lowe's on clearance a few months ago.

We had a large square pine coffee table, but we decided to switch it out for a little while with this one that Brian made me out of old barn lumber. We'd like to get rid of that crazy recliner and get a few wing back chairs.

Our mantel with our annual fall pictures of the girls.

The other side :D

Anna's art table.
This room has the best light in the house and we can't fit this table up the spiral stairs to her room, so she's got her own little corner!

Last but not least - my tea bag squeezer! I have looked for one of these for months! Even when we were in Tenn in August I looked. Monday night Brian and I had a date night (thank you Nina!) and we ventured over to Bed, Bath, & Beyond after our dinner at 5-Guys and lo-and-behold I spotted one! It really is about the only thing that I could afford in there anyway.....haha!

Have a super blessed week and PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE go vote on Tuesday!!!!

Summer Recap

It seems like our entire summer has just flown by! Everything before our trip to Panama was all about the trip and now that it is finished it seems like our summer is about over. We'll start school in a few more weeks and I've got lots to do before then to get ready. I wanted to give a little summer recap before I forget to! :)

Holly played softball this spring/summer and she finished up toward the middle of June. I just love to watch this age play, so exciting!

We watched Miss Bella (our great-niece) the weekend before we left for Panama and then didn't see her for about 2 weeks. We went to see her when we got back home she didn't know who we were. It broke our hearts, but she is finally starting to get used to us again. I can't believe she is already 5 months old!

When we were on our trip we ate lots of these - hojaldres! Then we found mixes at the Super 99 store at the mall before we left. I tried my hand at making them.

They were definitely not comparable to the ones at the Santana restaurant, but they did have a good taste! But any type of fried dough, in my opinion, is gonna be good! :P

We also did a little field trip study with the girls a few weeks ago! The Mary Todd Lincoln house where she grew up is in Lexington and I had never been before. She was a different character in all that I have read and they did a very good job giving the good and the bad aspects of her life during the tour.

They didn't allow photography inside, but there was plenty of gorgeous furniture and trinkets that have been given to the house from her family.

The back side of the house with the flower and herb garden.
Anna also went to camp for the first time ever this summer. She has been so anxious to go!
She packed most of this all by herself. She is miss organization and had been preparing her stuff months ago!
Here is our little camper when we went to pick her up! She had a blast and can't wait until next year!

While she was gone Holly and I had a little date/shopping trip! We were both lost without our Anna though! But it was fun and we enjoyed our one on one time.
We discovered Culver's a couple of months ago and now we are in love! :) Holly and I grabbed a burger on our way home that night!
Hope the rest of your summer is just wonderful!
Brian and I will be celebrating our 14th Anniversary next week!!!! Can't wait for a date night! :)
