Last year the girls started doing prayer journals. This idea had come into my heart and we found these cute little journals at a craft store.
The girls LOVE journals/diaries/notebooks of any kind so I knew that they would be excited to do this "new" thing! We have countless notebooks and pads of paper that they have scribbled on since they could hold a pencil/crayon.
On our first day of school after Christmas last year during our Praise and Prayer class I brought out these journals and explained to the girls that they were going to be prayer journals. They could use them in any way that they wanted, to write down prayer requests or to write out prayers to God. How they do it is not as important as why they do it. It is something that they use to journal their thoughts and feelings to their heavenly Father. I told them that I would not be reading them and no one else could read them unless they had their permission. In fact, when I took these pictures I made sure to not read past the top line and to make sure the rest were blurry so you couldn't read what they have written. It is personally between them and their Savior.
All this to say that the girls love doing this and it is something that they look forward to every night before bed. I just pray that it is a tool that they carry on with them.

We serve a Lord that wants us to communicate with Him. As believers He wants to communicate with us. He is not concerned about hearing prayers from us that are formal and repetitious. He wants us to talk to Him and it doesn't matter what time of day it is or what we are doing. Whether you are driving down the road or cooking supper He wants to hear from us. You can say it out loud, in your head or write it down, He wants to hear from you.
Philippians 4:6-7
Philippians 4:6-7
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Thessalonians 5:16-18
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
Psalm 66:19-20
"But certainly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer, Nor His mercy from me!"
