Weekend Round-up

We have had a great weekend! It all started when the doorbell rang on Friday night and we got a couple of house guests:)

Nana and Bella came and spent the night with us!

I could honestly bite those lips off! Ha!

She sure does love her Uncle Brian!

We don't really celebrate Halloween anymore. The girls dress up all the time so to dress up and go trick or treating we just don't do. Not celebrating Halloween is just a personal conviction we as a family have agreed upon. I don't pass judgment on those that do.
God's Word says that we should abstain from all appearances of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22) and the research that we have done about Halloween tells me to keep away from celebrating it in even the most innocent ways!

We did recognize today (Oct. 31) as Reformation Day! It is the day that in 1517 Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses upon the church in Wittenburg, Germany that sparked the Great Reformation!

This week the girls played Pioneer Girls and Holly was their protector!

The sunset on Saturday night was just amazing!

Last Tuesday, Brian was off work and we had a clean day! He re-arranged the living room with the girls help. He also fixed my old window/quilt that I made and hung it up for me.

Here are just a few pics of our living room. We'd eventually like to change the wood paneling, but it makes for a cabin/chalet feel.
This was Mama's black table and we found that mirror at Lowe's on clearance a few months ago.

We had a large square pine coffee table, but we decided to switch it out for a little while with this one that Brian made me out of old barn lumber. We'd like to get rid of that crazy recliner and get a few wing back chairs.

Anna's art table.
This room has the best light in the house and we can't fit this table up the spiral stairs to her room, so she's got her own little corner!

Last but not least - my tea bag squeezer! I have looked for one of these for months! Even when we were in Tenn in August I looked. Monday night Brian and I had a date night (thank you Nina!) and we ventured over to Bed, Bath, & Beyond after our dinner at 5-Guys and lo-and-behold I spotted one! It really is about the only thing that I could afford in there anyway.....haha!

Have a super blessed week and PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE go vote on Tuesday!!!!

Babies, Hayrides, & Election Sermons!

Friday night we got to keep our sweet great niece, Bella. We hadn't seen her in about 2 1/2 weeks and we were missing her just a bit! She did pretty good with us and missed her Momma a little I believe. But we did do a little dancing to the Pride&Prejudice Soundtrack at 2:00 a.m. and it helped to put her right back to sleep :D

See her two new teeth?! :D

She is so precious and has the sweetest little personality!
Brian and I both were dragging a bit on Saturday and we agreed that there is a reason why we have youngins when we're younger! Saturday evening our homeschool co-op had a fall family cookout. It was a lot of fun and all the kiddos enjoyed themselves. Here is our gang before going on the hay ride.

The weather was perfect and the sunset that night was breath taking!

We had an old fashioned "Election Sermon" Sunday night at our church! Bro. Don Pinson from Heritage Ministries of Ky preached a sermon to our local candidates about the role of government, their role in government, and how God is the author of government! We had sent out 55 invitations to local candidates and we had 18 to show up! We have 2 in our congregation that is running for State Senate and County Clerk. And my father-in-law is running for sheriff.

At the end of the service each candidate was given a Declaration of Independance, a New Testament Bible, & a music CD with "God Bless America" and then Bro. Kenny prayed over all of them and asked for God's will to be done in the election results. It was a very powerful service and up until about 1875 these types of services were very popular.

We are praying that November 2nd brings GOOD change for America!
You can guarantee that we'll be waiting for the polls to open next Tuesday!!!

The Lofty Room

For Kelly's Korner - Show Us Your Life this week we are sharing our children's rooms!
When we bought our house there was a huge room (16'x30') upstairs with it's separate bathroom. We decided to have our girls share this room and they have for the most part loved it. It has a spiral staircase going up to it and I think it has always made them feel like princesses :D

After a couple of years we decided to hang this gorgeous (ha!) curtain up between part of their room so that they could have their own private space. The rest of the room holds their closets and the bathroom. This picture is from last year because honestly right now we are in the process of purging out toys and clothes that are no longer needed. So needless to say you would not want to see a picture of that!
Hope you have a super blessed weekend!
And don't forget to exercise your right to vote on November 2nd!!!

Annual Fall Pictures

We've had a pretty relaxed weekend. Saturday, Brian worked and the girls and I finished changing out their winter/summer clothes. We've all kind of got this congestion/sniffles so I spent some of Saturday in the bed too! :) Then today after church the girls and I had our annual fall photo shoot! Here are a few of my favorites. At the end I also posted the last 7 years of our fall pics.
