Just A Few Things

I wanted to share a few pics off of my cell phone. I haven't taken any pictures with my big camera since Christmas. Shocking I know, but sometimes you just need a lil break. :)

Holly was really sad to put away the Nutcrackers. :(

The girls found the funniest app for their iPods. We have laughed so hard at some of them that I think it warrants a post featuring our funniest pics later on. :) Stay tuned....

A co-worker of Brian's gave us a new rooster! We had 3 last year and after we gave 2 away our remaining one died. And in honor of Brian and the girls buying 4 of my favorite BBC Miniseries for Christmas we named him Mr. George Knightley (from Emma:)!!!

About a week and a half ago the girls and I ran into the library and when we came out it looked like a blizzard! It didn't last long though. :( I am beginning to wonder if we're gonna even have a winter. The temps have been in the upper 40's and 50's for quite a while now.

Anna took the snow pic and the one above. We were driving to Lexington and she snapped this one of a farm on the side of the interstate. She's getting pretty good!

#338 - Snow & Stockings

We had a little shower of snow today!!! Not enough to get too excited about, but enough for Holly to try & catch!

And tonight at church our missions class put together stockings for some nursing home patients. We're going to take them next week!

#26 - Snow Go

Here is what our backyard looked like when I got up this morning. Everything was white! I have taken so many snow pictures this winter, but I couldn't resist a few more.

They had predicted we'd get 4-6 inches, but we ended up with around 3.

This bush looked like this when I first noticed it being completely white.
Then as the day went on and the snow kept falling it looked like this:

Poor thing :)

The girls went out for a little while to feed the critters and play with Cody boy.

I usually don't complain too much about winter weather, but I sure can't wait to see this:

I wanted to say Happy Birthday my sweet sister-in-law Becky today!!! I am sure being in Texas she just enjoys seeing these snow pics and not being in it firsthand! Love you Becky!

#22 - Fun Saturday

Fun Saturday if you love to do laundry!

Keeping things real....5 loads later I'm almost caught up!

Brian decided to take the veneer pieces off the doors of the hutch.
It was going to be too hard to fix and to be honest I like it better!

The girlies got to play in the snow for a little while. I looked out once and they were rolling down the little hill in our back yard!

After Sissy left I put the girls to work!

#11 - Gone with the Cabin Fever

The girls have been wanting to watch, "Gone with the Wind," and today I finally let them after they got finished with school. It has never been one of my favorites and until a few years ago I had never even watched the entire movie. I don't care much for Scarlett, but I know that she is a lot like most people (me!) deep down, with that selfish sin nature.....ha!

Even though we had gotten out of the house for a little yesterday, cabin fever was beginning to set in! When Brian got home from work we headed to get a BOGO free Blizzard at the DQ! I just love when it snows!

(Side note: This Dairy Queen used to be a Druthers. Remember those?! Oh, what memories!)There was a 25th Year Blizzard Anniversary sign in the window of the DQ and Brian said what is sad is that he remembers when they first came out! I do too! They still flip 'em upside down at ours before they hand them to you. :)

It has taken me about an hour to eat mine, because I've had to wait on the chocolate to melt when I took a bite! It's still a bit hard to chew with those back teeth! :D

Snow, Ice, & Lunar Eclipses!

Last week we got some pretty good snow accumulations. For years I complained that our girls would never have any snow to play in, but this year alone will make up for all of those winters we didn't get much snow! Today is the first day of winter and we've already had 2 or 3 measurable snows and a layer of ice!

Holly measured it for me one day when they went to play. It was so cold that I only let them stay about 15 minutes and they were froze by the time they came back in!

I did venture out to gather some snow for some snow cream! It has been years since I made any and it was pretty good!

We were under a winter storm warning for ice last week and after the previous ice storm we knew to get prepared for the worst! But this time wasn't too bad. There was a small layer of ice that is just now melting, but the electric didn't go off and it wasn't too bitterly cold. And for that I am very thankful!

We are suppose to get some more snow/ice for this Friday which coincidentally is also CHRISTmas Eve! So maybe we'll have a white CHRISTmas!!!

Also, we didn't get to see the Lunar Eclipse last night because it was too cloudy, but here is a video that Vision Forum had and it's pretty neat to see in case you missed it:

Snow, Soup, & Sewing

We got our first accumulating snow on Saturday along with temps in the teens and all we've wanted to do is bundle up............

and eat soup!

Tonight the girls and I decided to get out the ol' sewing machine and make a few Barbie items.

Barbie wasn't very happy because of this:
The dress Anna made her didn't fit. Maybe too much soup?!

I found a great tutorial blog that showed how to make some cute clothes. Not being the best seamstress, it didn't turn out fantastic, but Barbie was happy!

We also made mini-quilts with a matching pillow that I found on this blog!

Anna did a great job!

Barbie was happy once again. When the temps get down to 10 degrees tonight she'll be warm!

Holly worked on her own quilt too!

I loved how hers turned out.

Random Events from the Week

We have had a super busy week! Monday we had things going on from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.!

First thing Monday morning we headed over to our county fiscal court meeting. This is Brian's Uncle Larry who is a magistrate in our district. We went to the meeting to support Bro. Kenny who spoke in opposition to Sunday sales at a winery in a town close to us. Larry voted "no" and we are proud to have him represent us! It did pass because one of the magistrates that lost changed his vote after he had lost this past election. So so sad.


After the court meeting (which we stayed for the entire session!) the girls and I headed on to our homeschool co-op group. The girls really enjoy most of their classes. Anna takes a science class based off of the book, "Blood and Guts" and the teacher has been wonderful! They've been able to dissect several different things and this past class they were able to dissect sheep brains! Sorry if this grosses you out! :) It might gross you out even more if you scroll any further, because of course I've been taking pictures of most of the organs they've done.








It was really interesting I must say! The only time I got grossed out completely was when we did the eyeball. I'll spare you that pic!

Monday evening I helped a couple different people from our church prepare a meal for the Baptist Campus Ministry students in our town. They had this painting on the wall and I just loved it! Do you see the tree and the sun within the hand and sleeve? The hand had broken mirror representing the nail scars in Jesus' hand. I thought it showed Jesus making a way to His Father and directing us to Him! So neat!

It has been flurrying here the past couple of days! I can bare the colder weather much better if there is pretty snow falling!

Tuesday I had a doctor's appt (yay me!) and then that night I had a little dinner and shopping outing with some sweet friends! We went to Hobby Lobby, ate a yummy meal, and then ended our night at Big Lots. Ha! We've decided to make this a monthly date! I can't believe I didn't take one single picture. :(

Hope you all are having a great week! Our town's Christmas parade is this Saturday and then on Sunday the missionary couple that we worked with in Panama will be speaking at our church. We can't wait to see them again!
